November is Diabetes Awareness Month – Do you know the signs? Until they are diagnosed, most people know very little about type 2 diabetes. It's often particularly shocking when they learn that people with type 2 diabetes are two to four times more likely to have a heart attack or stroke than people without diabetes. The truth is, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among people with diabetes. Learn more at IKnowDiabetes.org.
It is important to be aware of the signs and consult your doctor about getting screened for diabetes even if you don't have a family history of diabetes.
Signs or symptoms of type 2 diabetes:
- Increased thirst and hunger
- Fatigue
- Increased urination, especially at night
- Weight loss
- Blurred visions
- Sores that don't heal
